Explore the magical island of the Cyclades
You can reach Amorgos by ferry, every day from Piraeus and Rafinas port. It takes around 4-8.30 hours depended the type of the ferry you will choose and the destination (Katapola or Aegiali port). Amorgos is also connected with Syros, Paros, Naxos, Mykonos, Santorini, Astypalaia and Koufonisia.
Additionally there is also the daily service of “Express Skopelitis” from Amorgos to all the nearby islands with return in the same day. Amorgos has a fully organized road network, linking all the villages with bus services. There are also taxis, car and bike rentals.

In Katapola you can find the Acropolis of Ancient Minoa on “Mountoulia mountain”, watermanship, the church of Panagia Katapoliani and the remains of the temple of Pythian Apollo.
In Chora you can visit the Venetian castle and the medieval Tower of Gavra, where today is the archaeological museum. Also, the monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa built in a rock 300 meters above sea level in 1088 and is the most important monument of the island. In Chora there is also the first Gymnasium that was founded in Greece after the revolution in 1821.
Furthermore in Arkesini you can find the tower of holy trinity.
If you visit Amorgos you should definitely not miss some events that will make you familiar with the island’s traditions. There are many festivals on the island such as the celebration Of Agioi Anargyroi on 1 July at Tholaria, Agia Paraskevi on 25 and 26 July in Kolofana, which is the most famous of all, Panagia of Epaoxoriani on 15 August in Lagada and Agios Ioannis on 29 August in Vroutsi. Also in Chora on the 6th of August the feast of Christ and the feast of the “pastelli” (traditional sweet of Amorgos-Brittel). Ultimately, in July you can enjoy famous feast of “rakomelo” (traditional drink of Amorgos). All the above local dishes and drinks are offered free from the residents
